The counterpart to the mother chapter: the child is the output the day master produces, and filial service means the output turning back to support the whole rather than merely draining it. Where the output is in proper relation to the self, harmony results. The pair of chapters is the book's way of saying that giving and receiving must be reciprocal in a chart, exactly as in a family.
