Two lines, and one ranking: a struggle among the stems above is bearable, because what shows on the surface can be negotiated; a struggle among the branches below is urgent as fire, because the roots are what actually hold the chart up. The practical instruction is to weigh damage by depth — surface clashes are visible and manageable, underground clashes move the foundation.
