The 'true spirit' is the element the month command genuinely supplies and the chart can genuinely use — gathered and concentrated, not merely present. The warning is against letting a plausible substitute take its place: a spirit that looks useful but is not rooted in the season will do the work badly. When the true spirit is found and used, the life has standing; when the day master has nothing to act with, the same chart drifts.
