Shen opens the run of luck chapters by refusing to give a formula: every chart has its own discussion, and only the outline can be stated. For the officer he then lists the matching rules — aid the body or aid the officer as each is light; keep the revealed officer free of combination, of mixed killings and of doubling; and treat punishment or clash in the branches as unfavourable whatever structure is being followed.
