Feeling and Force

Every structure has its rank, and the rank does not come from the bare name of the structure. Shen reduces it to two pairs of words: whether the gods have feeling for one another, and whether they have force. Feeling means the favourable gods look after each other instead of obstructing; force means they are rooted and supported. Charts that have both are the highest; charts that have half of one, or neither, sink. He ends with a warning against formula — a single character can weigh a thousand jun.
