This is the checking table for all eight structures. Shen first lists how each one forms, then how each one fails, and the two lists are deliberately symmetrical. He then supplies the machinery that turns one into the other: an aversion that lodges inside a formed structure, and a rescue that pulls a broken structure back. The chapter closes by insisting the lists are only an outline, and that the reader must fuse the cases into a single principle.
