What is True Solar Time in BaZi?

True Solar Time (真太阳时) is the sun's actual position as seen from your birth longitude: it corrects for the offset between that longitude and your time zone's standard meridian, and then for the Equation of Time. Without this correction the largest errors fall on charts born near the boundary between two two-hour branches (时辰) — the Zi hour around midnight (子时) is the classic case — where a shift of only a few minutes moves the Hour Pillar (时柱) into the neighbouring branch. Away from those boundaries, the same shift usually leaves the chart unchanged.
